Bringing all of your kids (or a few of them) into the studio together is an amazing experience. Their chemistry together will always create something unique to them. It's not going to be the quiet, gentle snuggling that it might be if only one child were in the studio, and it may even feel a bit chaotic at times. But it's also going to be dynamic and honest and beautiful. These sessions aren't about curating a look; they're about bringing out the true feelings, the deep connections, the real love. Not all children are ready to lean in and do a traditional snuggle. The photographs will reflect your family as it is. There's something really special and controlled about doing these sessions in a studio. It's quiet, it's simple, and there are very few distractions.
I loved the photographs from this session of all of the girls together with their mom, but it was also amazing to get some variations. Just the two youngest girls with their mom, just the mom with her sweet baby.
The following session is a mama with her baby and preschool-aged son. The session ebbed and flowed in and out of connection and play and a bit of wild happiness. Not always snuggly, though those moments of deep love shine throughout the photographs
This next session is a pair of four year old twins and their amazing mom. The twins were a whirlwind of energy and excitement. They didn't want to sit still, and one of them was highly opposed to the idea of being calm and snuggling in. So we just went with their ideas of fun and joy. How would they play together, how do they show love? These photographs aren't the same look as my typical snuggle sessions, but show these girls' bond and love for their mama in their own unique way.
The following session was so much fun, so much energy and play and so much love. A mama with her three and five year olds.
The family below was so deeply connected and beautiful. The 11 year old and 5 year old seemed equally delighted to love on each other as to love on their 11 month old sister and their mom.
The family below was wild and playful and full of love. Four children, ages three to nine, with seven year old twins in the middle. It was a session packed with so much movement and energy and light. I felt the need to capture the chaos as much as the love and calm. Because it felt like a sweet, honest representation of their family. Of their relationships.
